March Madness - FTW

I’ve been watching all of March Madness games via the NCAA March Madness LIVE app available on my iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro.

Last year I did the same but it was free. This year I payed a measly $3.99 for potentially 67 games. I doubt I’ll watch all of them but since I am not a regular cable subscriber I’m in heaven.

This app has it all.

I can post to any number of social networks during the game, seeing a string of live replies flow nicely in the simple yet gorgeous user interface. Just as simple I can check my teams live box scores and turn game notifications on so that while I am working, I don’t miss a thing nor piss off the boss. And if I am driving I can even listen to the radio! My one sadness was not purchasing my package early enough to enter my bracket into a national pool. I can’t seem to verify this but I believe bracket wins get char.table donations!

The Set Up.

So far I’ve been hooking my iPad up to my HD TV via the digital AV adaptor to watch the games full screen but am considering getting an Apple TV this week to go completely wireless. I do have a Boxee but sadly this app is lacking on the open market.

For The Win.

Oh and did I mention while watching one game on my iPad I’m able to check stats on my iPhone or even watch another game on my MacBook Pro? Oh how I adore this app.

Old News But New Questions

I realize it’s probably old news to most of you that Twitter announced a program for Facebook-style brand pages. This announcement was coupled with the introduction of a big redesign. The idea is that brand pages will allow advertisers more control over what content you first see when going to their twitter brand page. Brands will have control over what tweets are at the top of their timeline as well as more prominently displaying their tagline and logo. I wonder though, is it worth it? Brands maybe forgetting that their value to followers lies in what new content they deliver and the engagement that follows. I guess only time will tell.

What’s your opinion on this?
